Welcome to Your Website Journey
Whether you’re building your very first website or refreshing an existing one, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know before we begin.
My goal is simple: make the technical stuff feel a little less technical so we can focus on building a website you’re excited to share.
Why Squarespace?
I recommend Squarespace because it makes managing your website simple from day one. Everything is built into one platform, so there’s less technical upkeep and fewer moving parts to worry about.
Benefits include:
Reliable hosting and built-in security
A website that looks great on every device
Easy updates to text, images, and pages
Less ongoing maintenance and technical hassle
One streamlined platform to manage it all
Once your site is live, you’ll have the confidence to make everyday updates without needing a developer for every change.
What you’ll need to get started:
Before we begin designing your website, there are just a few things to have in place.
1 / Squarespace Account
Create an account using an email address you'll always have access to.
You'll remain the owner of your website throughout the entire project.
2 / Domain Name
Your domain is your online address.
Already own one through another provider? Perfect—we'll simply connect it when your new site is ready.
3 / Web Hosting Plan
Every website requires a hosting plan.
For most service-based businesses, I recommend the Business Plan, but I’m happy to help you choose the option that's right for your needs.
Invite me as your designer:
Settings → Permissions & Ownership → Invite Contributor
Once your account is set up, you'll invite me as a contributor so I can design and build your website. You’ll always remain the account owner—I simply have the access needed to do the work.
Finally, gather your content:
Brand guidelines
Logo files
Photography
Product images
Bios
Service descriptions
Testimonials
Contact information
Social media links
Any inspiration or websites you love
Feel free to use the Google Doc shared at kickoff.
And don't worry if everything isn’t finished yet—we'll work through it together.
